Rockburst mitigation experiences on underground projects in the Cheves Hydropower project in the Peruvian Andes
Abstract
The main problems related with the design and construction of tunnels and caverns under high overburden are analyzed in this paper. As an example, the recent experiences during the construction of Cheves Hydropower Project in the Peruvian Central Andes are described. During its construction, 850 rockburst events were recorded, enabling designers to collect data and make some correlations that may be useful for other projects.
